Children will have the opportunity to grow at their own pace and develop a respect for others in a tolerant and non-stereotyped environment. Each classroom’s goal is to enhance learning and engage children in ‘high level thinking’. Through exposure to a variety of media and expressive materials, children are free to: choose, explore, observe, create and learn in a literacy-rich environment.
The centre will provide five (5) nutritious and tasty meals throughout the day. All menus follow the Balanced Dietary Guidelines and have been planned by a certified Dietician. We will provide fresh fruit and vegetables in all planned meals and organic foods when possible, e.g. Chemical-free chicken and seasonal vegetables, while all meats are minced onsite using only quality meats.
Horsley Kids is very proud that in our first Accreditation in 2006, we achieved High Distinctions in all Seven Quality Areas. The assessor claimed that no other new centre had achieved this result in all her 7 years of assessment. We proudly display this notice in all classrooms for all to see.
In 2009, after completing our second accreditation assessment, we achieved a perfect result, another high quality rating for the centre. (Click on this link for our Accreditation result in 2009)
Our most recent accreditation in August 2013, under the new NQS (National Quality Standards) assessment criteria set by the Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), was exemplary. We again achieved a perfect result of exceeding ALL 7 quality areas.
The NQS contains 18 standards, with two or three standards in each quality area. These standards are high-level outcome statements. Under each standard there are elements that describe the outcomes which contribute to the standard being achieved.
There are 58 elements in total. (See more details at: http://www.acecqa.gov.au/national-quality-framework/the-national-quality-standard)
Not only did Horsley Kids exceed all 7 quality areas, the centre also exceeded ALL of its 18 standards and 58 elements. That result is only shared by a minority of child care services in the country. Yes, you may see other services advertising that they are Exceeding standards, but a child care service only needs to exceed in 4 quality areas in order to achieve an overall result of Exceeding. Few child care services exceeded ALL of its 58 elements, 18 Standards of the 7 quality areas such as Horsley Kids.
A way of checking the quality rating of a child care centre is searching on the mychild website. Fill in suburb details for services in your desired area or enter the child care centre’s name (if you know it) and the site will display useful information when deciding what services to contact and arrange an interview.
