The broad objective of the Quality Improvement and Accreditation System is to ensure that children in long day care centres have stimulating, positive experiences and interactions which will foster all aspects of their development. To be accredited, a centre must comply with each of the 35 principles to a specified standard. A combined process of self study and external review determines compliance with these principles. http://www.ncac.gov.au/
Prior to the process, parents will be notified of the approach to be taken at the Centre which will involve parental participation for all families. Horsley Kids is committed to a high standard of quality care that fosters all aspects of a child’s development.

Horsley Kids is very proud to announce that in our first Accreditation in 2006, we achieved High Distinctions in all Seven Quality Areas. The assessor claimed that no other new centre had achieved this result in all her 7 years of assessment. We proudly display this notice in all classrooms for all to see.
Most recently in 2009, after completing our second accreditation assessment we have achieved a perfect result, another high quality rating for the centre.
Horsley Kids are proud to be a high quality Child Care Service Provider.

From January 2012 the existing Quality Improvement and Accreditation System will be replaced with a new National Quality Standard, which will provide clear guidelines on the factors that best support a child’s development and what distinguishes high quality or excellent services. It will be divided into seven quality areas, identified by research, as contributing to the quality of early education and care. These quality areas are:
1. Educational Program and Practice
2. Children’s Health and Safety
3. Physical Environment
4. Staffing Arrangements
5. Relationships with Children
6. Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Communities
7. Leadership and Service Management
Each early childhood service across Australia will be assessed on their performance against these seven quality areas and given an overall rating. The ratings are:
-
Significant improvement required - Indicates that a service is not meeting the National Quality Standard and the regulator is working closely with the service to immediately improve its quality.
-
Working towards National Quality Standard - Indicates that a service is working towards meeting the National Quality Standard Meets
-
National Quality Standard - Indicates that a service is meeting the National Quality Standard.
-
Exceeds National Quality Standard - Indicates that a service is exceeding the National Quality Standard.
-
Excellent - Indicates that a service demonstrates excellence and is recognised as a sector leader.
Providing the highest quality service to children and families is always a priority for Horsley Kids. This is evident in the highest quality rating received by Horsley Kids from the National Childcare Accreditation Council.
To ensure this high quality of care continues Horsley Kids is actively working towards the National Quality Standard with the aim of exceeding the National Quality Standard.
